How to Choose the Right Cleaning Frequency for Your Home in Lagos

Most offices run on a routine: bins emptied, desks wiped, floors vacuumed. It keeps things looking presentable, but "looking clean" and "being clean" are not the same thing. A deep clean reaches the buildup that daily tidying never touches — and there are a few reliable signs it's overdue.
The first is dust returning within a day of cleaning. If surfaces feel gritty again almost immediately, it usually means the dust is being stirred up from carpets, vents, or upholstery rather than removed at the source. Standard vacuuming picks up loose debris but leaves embedded dust in fibres, which keeps recirculating through the air every time someone walks past or the AC kicks in.
The second is a rise in staff sick days, particularly colds, headaches, or allergy-like symptoms clustering around the same few weeks. Shared keyboards, phone handsets, door handles, and breakroom surfaces accumulate bacteria far faster than most people expect, and a wipe-down with the wrong product does little more than move germs around.
Third, check your air conditioning vents and filters. A film of dust on a vent cover is a sign the whole duct system needs attention — and in Lagos and Abuja's dust and humidity, that buildup happens faster than in drier climates. Poor air quality is one of the most common (and most overlooked) causes of the "always tired by 3pm" feeling in open-plan offices.
Fourth, look at high-traffic flooring near entrances and lift lobbies. If it's visibly duller or discoloured compared to lower-traffic areas, embedded grit is wearing down the finish — which is a maintenance cost, not just a cosmetic one.
Finally, if you genuinely can't remember the last time furniture was moved and cleaned underneath, that's reason enough on its own. A proper deep clean — carpets extracted, vents cleared, upholstery treated, and every surface behind and beneath furniture addressed — resets the baseline so your daily cleaning routine actually has something to maintain. Most commercial spaces benefit from a deep clean every three to six months, more often in high-footfall environments like reception areas and shared kitchens.
